Would the Bears Really Be Better off with Caleb Williams than Justin Fields?
I’m not convinced.
I’m not a big college football guy, but I did take note of USC’s 42–28 win over Louisville in the Holiday Bowl. What was especially noteworthy about the game was alleged “generational talent,” Caleb Williams sat it out and Miller Moss threw for 372 yards and six TDs. It seems like Williams is replaceable even at a college level.
Questions about Williams
I obviously don’t know Williams personally, but I do wonder about some of Williams’ actions. Things like not talking to reporters after a game. Even not playing in the Holiday Bowl.
I understand the thinking behind not playing in a bowl game, but it does seem exactly in character with Williams’ other actions. I’m also not really wild about the idea of my QB crying in his mother’s arms after a loss. But maybe that’s just me.
The contrast with Jusin Fields is stark
Nobody questions Justin Fields leadership. After poor performances, gut wrenching losses or being put in untenable situations, Fields faces the media with class. His teammates seem to love him. While that might not be a requisite for success, it sure doesn’t hurt.
