Many of us fondly remember the old TV shows we grew up with, but beneath the pristine surface of these shows lies a bunch of unanswered questions. Let’s take a look.

Gunsmoke: First of all, how did Matt Dillon string Miss Kitty along for 20 years? When it came to facing bad guys, Matt was absolutely fearless. When it came to marrying Miss, Kitty, it was a whole different thing. Near the end of Gunsmoke’s 20-year run, Matt told Kitty someday would be their time together. Really, at that point, why bother? Actually, all of Gunsmoke’s main characters were marriage-averse. Doc Adams was also unmarried, as were Festus Haggen, Chester Goode, and Newly O’Brein.

As for Matt and Miss Kitty, here’s the kicker: If you watched the Gunsmoke movies, you’ve noticed Matt has a daughter. His daughter was the result of a relationship Matt had with another woman when he was suffering from amnesia. Miss Kitty just couldn’t catch a break.

As a side point, how many men did Matt Dillion kill in 20 years of being a marshal? An average of one a week, multiplied by 20 years would make for a massive total.
