With Recent UFO Sightings, is it Time for the Interplanetary Protection Officer to Step in?

A recent rash of Chinese balloons and UFOs have many Americans asking questions and getting few answers. Some wonder if all those UFOs are originating from earth or are originating from a bit further off. Well, it turns out that the US actually has a position called Interplanetary Protection officer.

Nick Bernardini was filled the slot as of June 7. The job is in the Office of Safety and Mission Assurance. A couple of things that we need to clarify. One, he doesn’t wear a cape and tights to work. I doubt he even wears something like a jumpsuit. And two, the job sounds kind of nerdy.

There is no interaction with James T Kirk or Jean Luc Picard. There is no Federation of Planets. There’s no prime directive. Not even a sub-prime directive.

While the job may involve working with cool people, there will be no Klingons, Romulans, or Vulcans. No hot green chicks of unknown origin. As I mentioned Bernardini may work with some cool people, but more likely he’ll be working with nerds.

In looking at the job description it seems the primary goal or prime directive if you will, is to prevent cross-contamination between planets. I suspect that could involve using…
