Week One of an NFL Season is Always Hard to Predict

After seemingly waiting forever, the NFL season is upon. The 2023 season kicks off with a Lions-Chiefs matchup. I’m going to go over this week’s games in three or four installments. Keep in mind that I will have done literally minutes of preparation in making these picks. I’m not picking against the spread, I’m just picking straight up winners. If I hit about 67% I’ll be happy. So here we go with a few picks and observations about week one.

Lions at Chiefs: When picking NFL games, I have very few rules. But one of them is I almost always don’t pick against Patrick Mahomes. The status of Chiefs’ TE, Travis Kelce is sketchy, and their WRs aren’t household names, but I still am going with the Chiefs. The Lions are this season’s flavor of the month, or year, and look intriguing, but I’m still waiting to see if they will find a way to Lions things up. Some of their offseason moves and draft picks were head scratchers. Winner: Chiefs

Cardinals at Commanders: I’m not sure where the Cardinals will get any offense from. RB, James Connors, should get a lot of work, which may help my fantasy football team, but I’m not sure touches will equate to production. As for the Commanders, it looks like Sam Howell will get the start at QB over Jacoby Brissett, but I’m unimpressed. Look for Brissett to…
