As illustrated in the above cartoon, you have to wade through and analyze a lot of, “stuff”, do know what’s really going on in politics. To help with that task, I’ll explain some often-heard expressions to help you wade through the “droppings”.

Though it seems we don’t hear quite as much about big government as we did before the pandemic, it’s still a catchphrase for some. The solution to big government? Cut back services for the public in general while benefitting politicians.

Ever noticed how politicians go right to the edge of a disaster before taking any kind of action? This is known as, “brinkmanship”. Generally, brinksmanship involves holding the public hostage until one political party determines they will be blamed for the impending disaster. At that point, some stop-gap measures will often be approved.
