There was more to him than mice and ducks.

For some of us old people, memories of Walt Disney go back the the Walt Disney Shows which aired on Sunday nights. Generally we could count on a nice animal story or, on a really good week, an animated cartoon. Obviously things have come a long way since then. But let’s take a look at the guy who started it all, Walt Disney.

1: Disney actually had a pet mouse.

And yes, Mickey Mouse was based on Disney’s pet. Later Disney had another mouse, which he named Ben. Wait, that’s completely bogus and I’m about to be set upon by a team of Disney lawyers.

2: Mickey Mouse was not the original name give Disney’s creation.

Mickey’s original name was Mortimer, but Disney’s wife suggested the change. That was a good idea. Mortimer sounds like an undertaker.

3: No, Disney was not cryogenically frozen after his death.

Or before his death for that matter. That was Hans Solo. Disney was actually cremated.

4: Disney’s favorite character wasn’t Mickey.

You probably don't know my name, but have likely seen my work. I've written for numerous syndicated cartoon strips and my gags have appeared in national pubs.
