Things You Didn’t Know About Tarzan
He’s a surprisingly complex guy.
Every decade or so, it seems that Tarzan reappears on the cinematic horizon. He generally pops up, disappoints at the box office, and goes back into the anonymity of the jungle.
As I remember the general storyline, a rich kid gets ends up alone in the jungle and is raised by apes. After that, the story varies. Sometimes he leaves the jungle, sometimes he stays in the jungle and has to deal with the intrusions of civilization as it tries to intrude on the peaceful domain of the jungle.
A woman named Jane enters the picture, by various means, depending on the movie. There may or may not be a boy. Like Tarzan, I’m not sure how he got there. And in the really good Tarzan presentations, there is Cheetah. With that foundation in place, here are some things you probably didn’t know about Tarzan.
1: Yes, he is an English aristocrat.
In the original Tarzan novel, Tarzan announces himself as “A viscount.” Which reminds me of the Tarzan videos which can be bought at, “a discount.”
