We’ve seen various depictions of Sherlock Holmes over the years. Some of the most recent portrayals of Sherlock were given by Robert Downey Jr. and Benedict Cumberbatch. Both were, in my opinion, hugely entertaining.

I can’t recall much about the Basil Rathbone version of Sherlock, but I do believe that both Downey Jr and Cumberbatch are a different, and more entertaining, version of Holmes.

In addition, Jude Law and Martin Freeman were both excellent as Dr. Watson. I’d love to see a new installment of Sherlock Holmes by either combination of actors. The newer productions of Sherlock Holmes, among other things, have fantastic dialogue, and action. But enough of that, on to facts about Sherlock Holmes.

1: Sir Athur Conan Doyle grew tired of the Holmes character and eventually killed him off.

Doyle thought being tied to Holmes was stopping him from doing bigger and better things. Quick, name something besides Sherlock Holmes that Doyle wrote. Yea, I can’t think of anything either. More about Doyle later.

2: When “The Strand” published, “The Adventure of the Final Problem,” in which Holmes dies…
