They eat a lot of cabbage, thus their leader is Putin.

As tensions mount between the US and Russia over Russia’s possible invasion of Ukraine, it struck me how little I know about Russia. Of course, I know the leader of Russia is Vladimir Putin, but beyond that one cheesy pun, this article won’t be about him or the current political situation.

With that in mind, I’ll try to give some insight into Russia. Much like Fox News gives insight into Hillary Clinton. Actually, I’ll try to get this stuff right. If I don’t, John Durham can clean it up.

1: Peter the Great imposed a beard tax.

He reportedly did it in an effort to boost his ski mask business. Wait, being told that’s not accurate.

It ran into difficulty when Russian women revolted at the idea of having their beards taxed. Once, again being told that’s not right. It was actually the Russian Orthodox Church that didn’t like it.

2: The tallest statue of a woman in the world is found in Volgograd.

Russian Olympic officials deny the woman was on steroids. The statue is 85 meters high and has had to be repaired to remain upright. She currently is seen with a cane. Wait, being corrected again. Forget that last…

You probably don't know my name, but have likely seen my work. I've written for numerous syndicated cartoon strips and my gags have appeared in national pubs.
