I recently wrote about Eliot Ness. No doubt Ness would have been proud of the way Robert Stack portrayed him. In addition to his role as Eliot Ness, Stack was the face and voice of the successful reality crime show, Unsolved Mysteries.

In addition to serious roles, Stack played a memorable role in the classic comedy, “Airplane.” And, beyond that, I didn’t know a lot about Stack. So, after a little more exploring, here are some things you didn’t know about Robert Stack.

1: Stack said of ‘The Untouchables” “When you tell the same story every week, it seemed like a vendetta between Ness and the Italians.”

So, Ness was battling Italians, and Indiana Jones was battling Germans. And law-abiding citizens slept tight.

2: Stack spent his early years in Italy, becoming fluent in French and Italian. He didn’t learn English until he was seven and living in Los Angles.

Amazingly, he was able to learn English in LA.

3: He was a shooter and polo player of note.
