“Citizen Kane” is not his best work as far as I’m concerned.

Sure, Welles is known for his movies, notably ‘Citizen Kane” but to me, his best work was on TV. Notably, his work on the Dean Martin celebrity roasts. His formal delivery of putdowns presented an air of faux class to the festivities. He was one of my favorite roasters. But that’s just me. Here are some other facts about Orson.

1: Orson Welles was one of only three people to be nominated for both Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay at the Oscars.

The other two? Charlie Chaplin and Sylvester Stallone. Hmm. Orson Welles, Charlie Chaplin and Sylvester Stallone. It reminds of back in school when they had problems which said, “One of these things is not like the others.”

2: His first acting gig was playing Peter Rabbit.

Before he was 10 years old, he played the character for 10 days in the Marshall Field’s department store in Chicago. His character was killed off by a positive pregnancy test. Wait, being told that’s not true.

3: While “Citizen Kane” is considered Welles’ masterpiece, William Randolph Hurst wasn’t a fan.
