What do you remember about Mickey Rooney? That he was short, was in a lot of movies, had a long career and was married a lot of times? For a lot of us, those are the high points of his biography, but there is a lot more to his life. Much of it messy, very messy.

So, we’ll take a slog through the debris of what was Mickey’s life.

1: Mickey was a fan of the 700 Club.

No, that wasn’t a club formed by his ex-wives, it was the religious TV show.

2: Rooney’s film career lasted from 1926–2015, making it the longest run in cinema history.

He had around 340 film and TV credits (numbers vary). Seems like he spread himself thin, so to speak.

3: He has four stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

He used to have eight before the alimonies set in. Ok, being told that last part wasn’t true.

4: He seriously played the horses.

He had a great quote about it: “I lost $2 at Santa Anita, and I’ve spent $3 million trying to get it back.”

You probably don't know my name, but have likely seen my work. I've written for numerous syndicated cartoon strips and my gags have appeared in national pubs.
