NFL Hall of Fame running back, Jim Brown passed away on May 18, 2023. To some, including myself, he was the greatest football player of all time. After all, how many players were so great that their NFL team was named after them? Wait, being told the Cleveland Browns were actually named after Paul Brown. Well, that doesn’t take away from the greatest of Jim Brown.

Brown walked away from the NFL and the age of 30. While he may be the greatest player in the history of the NFL, there was a lot more to his life than that. Here are some things you might not have known about Jim Brown.

1: In addition to be a great football player, Jim set a record for most points scored on Long Island by a high school basketball player. He averaged 38 ppg for his team.

That record was later broken by Boston Red Sox star, Carl Yastrzemski. A Long Island high school basketball game must be a great place to scout for athletes for other sports.

2: While Brown attended Syracuse University, he did not have an easy time there. As a freshman, he was the only black member on
