Peck seemed like the prototypical Hollywood leading man during the 40s and 50s. He played a variety of roles during his career, including westerns, which is mostly what I remember him for. As time goes on, it seems like the memory of Peck is fading into the sunset. So, in bucking that trend, here are some things you might not have known about Gregory Peck.

1: Peck won an Oscar nomination for his role in “Gentile Men’s Agreement,’ a movie which explored anti-Semitism.

Whoops! Hang on. Being told the movie was actually, “Gentlemen’s Agreement.” Well, that was a natural mistake.

2: Peck was born Eldred Gregeory Peck but eventually dropped the Eldred.

For a time, he was known as “Tiger” Peck. Wait, that was “Eldrick” Woods I’m thinking of. I always get those two confused.

3: Peck’s career picked up steam when he twice played Horatio Hornblower.

Hornblower was a musician who gained fame played with the musical group, “Chicago.” Once again, being told that’s not right. It turns out Hornblower was a sea captain.

You probably don't know my name, but have likely seen my work. I've written for numerous syndicated cartoon strips and my gags have appeared in national pubs.
