Buddy Ebsen is best known for his great work as Jed Clampett, but there is so much more to his career than that. He also did a memorable turn as the geriatric detective, Barnaby Jones. But wait, there’s more!
Buddy also was a part of many other outstanding projects. Many of which were westerns. He was also a better than fair dancer. With that in mind, here are some things you might not have known about Buddy Ebsen.
1: His role in the “Wizard of Oz” made him sick.
Originally, he was going to be the Scarecrow, but was changed to the Tin Man. Unfortunately for him, he was allergic to the aluminum dust in his makeup. It wasn’t that he lacked heart for the part.
2: Buddy was very proficient at sailing. He even taught naval officer candidates how to sail.
His most famous student was Popeye. Hold on, being told that isn’t accurate.
3: Ebsen provided the voice of Chet Elderson in an episode of “King of the Hill.”
