I haven’t seen Bette Davis in a movie in years. And I can’t say I’ve been impressed by her work, though I suspect I need to see more of it before I make a judgement on her talent. Her contemporaries obviously considered her immensely talented based on the awards she received. Once again, since I don’t believe she played in many comedies or westerns I haven’t seen a lot of her work.

I do remember the song, “Bette Davis Eyes,” and Bette did indeed have distinctive eyes. Of course, I prefer the comedic knockoff, “Marty Feldman Eyes,” but that’s just me. After delving into more information about Bette Davis, here are some things you didn’t know about Bette Davis.

1: In 1999, the American Film Institute placed Davis second on the list of greatest female stars in Hollywood film history.

Obviously, they have a high opinion of her. The fact that she didn’t star in a bunch of westerns didn’t seem to matter to them.

2: She had a career breakthrough with her portrayal as a particularly unlikeable waitress in “Of Human Bondage.”

You probably don't know my name, but have likely seen my work. I've written for numerous syndicated cartoon strips and my gags have appeared in national pubs.
