The Hurricanes of Florida, or the Tornados of Oklahoma?

Name your disaster.

I’ve in Oklahoma for about 30 years and in Florida for about nine. Currently, I live in the little town of Tecumseh, Oklahoma. I spent a good portion of last night doing what I’ve done for a lot of nights I’ve spent in Oklahoma, tracking tornadoes. Most of the damage from last night’s storms occurred in Shawnee, which is just north of Tecumseh.

It’s not like the musical

Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin’ down the plain
And the wavin’ wheat can sure smell sweet
When the wind comes right behind the rain.
Oklahoma, Ev’ry night my honey lamb and I
Sit alone and talk and watch a hawk
Makin’ lazy circles in the sky.

Last night my honey lamb and I spent a lot of the night watching TV weathermen tracking tornadoes.

When the wind comes sweeping down the plain in the form of a F5 tornado, it’s time to take cover.

I’ve come to appreciate Oklahoma weathermen more

Actually, pretty much the only time I watch network TV is to watch the NFL, or when Oklahoma is being pounded by severe weather. Any network television…
