He was truly an amazing performer.

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not generally speaking a fan of country western music. I do, however, make some exceptions. I like Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, and Buck Owens. But I really like Roy Clark.

To me, Roy wasn’t the stereotypical country western performer. Not only was he a great musician, but he was also funny. Hee Haw was a fantastic vehicle to display his talent. Roy just seemed to be having a good time, which helped his audience feel the same way. Here are some things you might not have known about Roy Clark.

1: Roy loved baseball and had some talent for the game.

Ultimately, Roy chose music over baseball. While he may have had some athletic talent, when it came to music, he was” The Natural.”

2: He won Banjo national Championships at the age of 15.

He also got married at the age of 17. That marriage ended in divorce. Well, he wasn’t a natural at everything.

3: He grew up in areas rich in country western heritage.

That right, New York City and Washington D. C. Sounds like a stretch to go from New York and Washington to country western music but it really…
