If you are going to be hostile, at least put a little thought and imagination into it.

As I’ve mentioned before, while News Break pays much better than Medium, it is a much tougher environment. The comments are much more hostile, personal, political, and occasionally obscene. And, after a while, you see some patterns develop. Let’s take a look at a few.

Adding sensational details to facts about a celebrity

In the comments about certain celebs, sometimes unproven statements about said celeb’s sexual preference. Often numerous statements about the same bit of information. Often by the same commentor.

In addition, some celebs have a lot of comments made about parts of their anatomy. Once again, often the same point is made many times.

It comes across as a desperate cry for help.

Look at me! Look at me.

Personal insults

While generally venous, they are also often infantile. Stuff like. “You’re stupid.” Let’s at least present some evidence. Plus, can the commentor put it in a more colorful way? Can a simile or metaphor be used? Think people!

Everything isn’t political

You probably don't know my name, but have likely seen my work. I've written for numerous syndicated cartoon strips and my gags have appeared in national pubs.
