Old Age: Where Physical Decline and Poverty Merge

Yep, every day is a party.

Cartoon by Lambert-King

As we get older, we are faced with increasing challenges. As we decline physically, some of us are also working with diminishing income. It’s a good thing that our mental acuity increases as we age.

Wait, I’m being told that’s not what happens. I would have known that but I’m suffering from diminished capacity.

Actually, the battle between myself and old age reminds me of the battles between Clouseau and Kato in those old “Pink Panther” movies. In this scenario, I’m Clouseau and old age is Kato. Kato leaps out at me at unexpected times and tries to do me harm.

Unfortunately, my battles with old age aren’t as humorous as the epic battles between Clouseau and Kato? Or are they? Here are some skirmishes between seniors and old age. Think of these as a thrust and parry.

1: As we get older, our eyesight diminishes.

And our appearance can take on some unwelcome changes. But with failing eyesight, we can’t see the changes, so the changes aren’t so disconcerting.

2: Our waistline might start creeping out.

But I’ve discovered stretchy pants. Not just waist bands that stretch, but the pants themselves.
