We could use some intelligent conversation.

Cartoon by Lambert-King

“The World’s Most Interesting Man’, graced our TV sets from 2006–2016. As portrayed by Jonathan Goldsmith, the Dos Equis spokesman, was one of the most entertaining characters on TV for over a decade. Then, when Goldsmith reached a certain age, he was dispatched on a one-way trip to Mars. That sounds like the most serious case of ageism I’ve ever heard, but that’s another story.

In 2016, Goldsmith was replaced as the most interesting man in the world by French actor, Augustin Legrand. Honestly, younger didn’t mean more interesting. When Goldsmith took that rocket to Mars, he took the most interesting conversations with him. Legrand’s stories weren’t as interesting as Goldsmith’s. Sometimes, older is more interesting.

Without, The Most Interesting Man in the World, interesting conversation is hard to come by. We’re bombarded by people like Flo, of Progressive Insurance. Flo’s stories of bundling insurance just don’t measure up to those of The Most Interesting Guy in the World.

Of course, even Flo is more interesting than the Liberty Mutual guy who’s selling wet teddy bears. The message being conveyed is at Liberty Mutual they do things a bit differently. Yeah, like having a loon represent them.

You probably don't know my name, but have likely seen my work. I've written for numerous syndicated cartoon strips and my gags have appeared in national pubs.
