My Rookie Season in an NBA Fantasy League
Durability is a big deal.
A couple of years ago, I ventured into fantasy football. I’ve enjoyed it so much I tried fantasy basketball this season. I’ve also enjoyed it immensely. A friend of mine started a 10 team keeper league. We all have a budget of $200. (Not real money.) That way there was no draft per se, you just bid on who you wanted. If you want to keep the same player, or players next season, you have to add $5 to what you bid this season. Our league has a couple of tweaks to the scoring rules. Blocks and steals count for four points. Turnovers lose two points. I’ve had a decent run, making it to the playoffs. I am a bit outgunned, so I have to make liberal use of the waiver wire. I’ve learned quite a bit this year.
I knew I wanted to go hard for Doncic and Jokic. I went hard for them, but not hard enough. They went for $71 and $66 respectively. My top dollar guy was Trae Young, who I got for $55. Next was Zion Williamson who went for $40. I’m fine with Zion’s production, but I was hoping for more from Trae.
I’ve gotten the most bang for my buck from De’Aaron Fox, who I picked up for $14. The $18 I spent on Rudy Gobert has also paid off nicely.
