Medium: You Can Be My Friend for $15 a Month
I believe Medium has taken enough of my money already.
My money from Medium came in for November and it was a bit better than the previous couple of months. I pulled in $293.39. In October I made 199.16. While that was an improvement, it’s a far cry from the days when I made $800- $1000 on Medium. But as I also write for NewsBreak. That has gotten better.
I broke the $1000 barrier on NewsBreak last month. I sit at a little over 11K followers. It is true that the comments on NewsBreak tend to be snarky. I found the best antidote for those comments is the delete button.
I have found, however, my tolerance for snarky comments is higher than my tolerance for losing money. It now seems that Medium may be concerned about writers not making enough money. I assume that is the reason for the Friend of Medium program.
Thoughts on the Friends of Medium program
First of all, I haven’t been asked ot join. That’s okay. Back in the 80s I bought a “Members Only” jacket and then the club dissolved, so there’s that. But if Medium really wants writers to make more money, why did the change the pay structure in the first place?
