Medium is changing and Color Me Unimpressed

I saw a recent explanation about the changes in Medium. I also saw the responses. It seems like many Medium writers are impressed by the changes. One person responded that they didn’t write for the money anyway. Well, if you’re not concerned about getting paid for your work, Medium is probably the place for you.

I’ve seen a precipitous decline in my earnings in recent months. Obviously, the fault is mine. It couldn’t possibly be a reconfiguration of the algorithm.

From the positive response of some to the changes, some Medium writers must be making more than previously. I suspect that there has been a reconfiguration of the revenue pie. But I’m more concerned about the size of the revenue pie being split. I suspect the revenue pie that writers are dividing has gotten smaller.

About that transparency…

Some Medium writers have touted the recent transparency of the platform. And that’s a head scratcher for me. I understand the formula for pay has changed, but I’m puzzled about how this helps writers overall.
