Job Titles aren’t Always What They Seem
Let’s strip away some of the pretention.
I’m amazed at how job titles have evolved over the years. For example, take the workers at Subway Sandwich shops. Well, at first, I thought of them as sandwich makers, but after a while, that term no longer seemed to cover it. They somehow have morphed into “sandwich artists.” Ah, the Picassos of Pastrami. And there are other cases of the title seeming more prestigious than the job. Let’s explore a few.
1: Life coach.
I’ve been puzzled by this one. Apparently, a life coach is supposed to help their clients reach their goals. So, wouldn’t the qualifications of a life coach need to be flexible. So, what type of clints should a life coach look for?
I would think that would mean people with some money and are gullible enough to think you can help them.
2: Fashionista.
Apparently, this can refer to a fashion designer or someone who is devoted to fashion. To me, it actually refers to someone who is brassy enough to tell other people how to dress. Fashionista does sound better now that I think about it.
3: Sports team insider.
This sounds like a guy who will give you the inside scoop on what’s really going on with a team. With the…
