It Could Be Worse
Let me tell you how.
Growing up both poor, and a Cubs fan, I’ve come to expect the worst. Think a situation is bad? I can figure out how it will deteriorate. I’ll give a couple of classic examples that are used to show how a bad situation can further disintegrate and then provide some of my own.
We’ve probably all heard the old, “I had no shoes, then I saw a man with no feet.” The idea being that the silver lining is we still have our feet. Left unsaid about the guy with no feet is if that’s the result of untreated diabetes, the poor guy could lose his legs too.
Then there was a classic from “Young Frankenstein.” Gene Wilder, aka Dr. Frankenstein, is complaining about digging up parts in the cemetery, but Igor, aka, the great Marty Feldman, interjects, “It could be worse.”
To which Wilder responds, “How?”
And Igor answers, “It could be raining.”
And of course it immediately starts raining. Great work, Igor! That’s how it’s done in the Lambert family. So here are some more examples:
1: You go to the doctor to get help with your water on the knee.
And he tells you to stand closer to the urinal, which is indicative of another problem.
