Is Your Work Area Filthy?

Mine could use some attention.

As highlighted by the cartoon, I tend to snack while I work. There are some repercussions from that. For example, my keyboard can get really nasty. Plus, as a hunt and peck typist, I need to be able to see the letters on my keyboard. It seems that greasy food on my fingers plus typing equals letters being wiped out on my keyboard. I guess that’s just the price of the creative process. I periodically have to buy another keyboard.

In addition to snacking, I also have a small TV on my desk that I watch/listen to while I work. That TV screen could use a little attention too. I was watching a hockey game on said TV a couple of nights ago and on more than one occasion I mistook a spot on my TV screen for the puck.

I was thinking, “clear the zone, clear zone!” and my team had, I was just looking at the wrong object. I think I’ll wipe that bad boy down today.

But it could be worse.

I’ve mentioned that I like to snack while I work. Well, in addition to me liking to snack, my two dogs also like to snack. They generally like to share my snacks with me. And that’s a two-edged sword. I’ll get the bad stuff out of the way first.

They will sometimes jump into my lap and check my desk to see if there are any loose crumbs lying around. While…
