Initial Thoughts After the First Weekend of Chicago Baseball

A week into the baseball season, and the Chicago major league ballclubs stand at a collective 1–5. While the record doesn’t tell everything, some of our fears seem to have a basis. And yes, the White Sox really will lose 100+ game.

It seems that if Jerry Reinsdorf worked as hard at putting a good team on the field as he did trying to siphon of tax dollars, Sox fans would be much happier

As for the Cubs, there is a nagging feeling that they may have cheaped out of a golden opportunity. Here are ten thoughts on baseball on both sides of Chicago.

1: The loss of Justin Steele for a month or so highlights the Cubs lack of front-end starting pitchers.

Jordan Montgomery would look so good in the Cubs rotation right now. If the Cubs fail to make the playoffs, their cheapness will probably be the reason.

2: Yoan Moncada was seen hustling Saturday.

For some, Moncada has been the poster boy for all that is wrong with the White Sox. Moncada actually turned on the jets to turn a drive into the right field corner into a triple Saturday. We’ll see how long that…
