In Some Cases, the “Great Unwashed” ain’t Great
Rude isn’t cool.
The term, “the great unwashed” is often attributed to Edmund Burke. The first published use of the term was by Edward Bulwer-Lytton. I don’t know anything about those guys, but I wanted to give the illusion of doing research.
The term can refer to common people, people in general, or people without a lot of political clout. It does seem to have a negative connotation, implying that people of limited economic means are not particularly hygienic. I’m going to use it in a slightly different way.
To me, the term, the term, “the great unwashed”, refers to people without class. Inconsiderate people who have little regard for those around them. That can be shown in various ways, and the term transcends economic status. Are you a member of the great unwashed? See if you fall into any of the following categories.
1: People who don’t flush.
I’m sorry, but if you don’t flush, you’re a pig. Are you really that lazy? If you’re that lazy, why go to the toilet at all. You’re a disgrace to yourself and your family. By the way, contrary to what you think, your stuff does stink.
