I Was Investigated or Found in Violation of Medium Policy for 30 Minutes
It was a traumatic experience.
After a hectic couple of days, I was happy to get back to my Medium writing routine. After putting together a piece about lotteries, I hit publish and got a shock. I was greeted with a notification that my account was in violation of or under investigation for a violation of Medium rules.
I was shocked. I write, what I think, are really conservative articles in terms of things that might be deemed offensive. Here’s part of what I found highlighted when I tried to find what my offenses were:
- Posting intimate or explicit images taken or posted without the subject’s express consent
- Content that violates others’ privacy or personal safety,
I was dumbfounded. I immediately contacted Medium to see what was going on. Thankfully they resolved the issue quickly. They said my account had been caught in a spam filter. Huh? Curious if anybody else has experienced this.
What to make of it.
Seeing that red notification at the top of my account was an eye-opener. While I appreciate the speed with which Medium responded, it did make me do a reassessment of my writing career.
