I have a Serious Question about the Movie “Footloose”

I don’t think I’ve ever watched the movie all the way through.

Generally speaking, I’m not real fond of musicals, however, I find myself watching some bigtime dance scenes from various movies. One of my very favorites is the final scene from the original “Footloose.” That Kevin Bacon, aka Ren McCormick can really cut a grain mill floor.

While I’m not sure I have all the details, it seems that a small Utah town, in large part due to the influence a minister, John Lithgow/Shaw Moore, prohibits dancing.

Ren McCormick is a high school transfer from Chicago with some serious dancing chops.

Ultimately, the forces of pro-dance, under the leadership of Ren McCormick prevail.

Before my question, here’s a bit of trivia about the movie

Was the movie based on a true event? Well, the town of Elmore City, OK did have a prohibition on dancing until 1980. Now on to the big stuff.

Where did those country boys learn to dance like that in such a short period of time? I know Ren McCormick learned before he got to Bomont, Utah. And he taught Willard, aka Chris Penn to dance, but some of…
