Hollywood’s Action Stars are Getting Old
Even Indiana Jones is slowing down.
Everybody’s favorite archeologist, Indiana Jones, hurt his shoulder while rehearsing a fight scene in Indiana Jones 5. While we would all like to age as well as the man portraying, Indy, Harrison Ford, the fact is it’s much harder to kick butt when you’re approaching 80 years old. The fact that Harrison got hurt just rehearsing a fight is sobering.
In the first Indiana Jones movie, when referring to his physical condition, Indy told Karen Allen, “It’s not the years, it’s the miles.” Well, Indy has racked up a lot of years and miles at this point. I assume this will be the last Indiana Jones movie that Harrison Ford will appear in. That makes me both sad, and feel old. But honestly, where would the franchise go from here if Harrison Ford continues to play the lead? The possibilities are depressing.
You could have stuff like, “Indiana Jones and the Escape from the Retirement Home”. You would have dramatic scenes like when Indy ties some sheets together to escape from his room. Upon getting to the window in his room, he remembers he’s on the first floor.
Another possibility is, “Indiana Jones and the Suppository of Boom.” In this storyline, Indy discovers something he hates more than snakes.
