Hey Medium, Enough with Your Self-Righteousness
Same story, new verse.
I joined Medium in January of 2021. For most of that time I’ve produced content on a regular basis. And often it’s been well received, and on occasion I’ve even been able to make a buck. At one point I was making about $1000 a month on Medium. And then Medium did what it’s consistently done to writers. It gave me a kick in the financial privates.
After the last adjustments in the pay formula my earnings dropped on a steady basis to where I was making about $200 a month. Still, I marshalled on and built my audience and earnings back to about $600 a month. Then something strange happened. I felt a pain in my nether region, my voice seemed higher and my Medium earnings had again taken a hit.
Medium had struck again.
I noticed it a few days ago
I’ve consistently been getting 1.1K to 1.3K reads per day, but noticed the same number of reads was producing much less money. I knew something was up. Then I came upon the article by Scott Lamb. It seems that Medium is cracking down on bogus accounts and bot comments.
