Here’s Some More Transparency About Medium’s New Compensation Plan

I know some readers don’t appreciate when I gripe about Medium, and that’s okay. One thing I find a little disturbing about the change is the perception that these changes are ushering in a new era of transparency. I’ve got to say, I don’t see it. Medium, at least to some extent, has used this model before.

And decided it wasn’t the best.

Did Medium really not know the likely outcome of this?

I find that hard to imagine. They could have plugged in their new formula with past statistics and arrived at an estimated payout for writers.

If they didn’t think payouts would be much smaller for writers making even a modicum of money on this platform form, I would be shocked.

When I first started writing here about two and a half years ago. Medium had just adjusted it’s pay plan. Below is the article I wrote about it.
