Facts About William Sanderson
He’s been around more than you think.
If you hear the name William Sanderson, your first reaction is probably, “Who is that?’ But if I mention something about “Larry” from “Newhart” you probably immediately have a mental image come to mind. Or if I say something about “Lippy” from “Lonesome Dove” it probably evokes a mental image. Maybe not a handsome one, but a mental image, nevertheless.
Actually, “Newhart” is one of my favorite comedies of all-time and I consider “Lonesome Dove” the greatest mini-series of all-time. But in addition to that, he’s been in a number of other high-profile projects. So, here are some things you might not have known about William Sanderson.
1: One of Sanderson’s characters really made it.
Think about mega celebrities. They are often known by just one name. There is Cher, Prince, Kobe, and of course, Larry. You might recall the line, “Hi. I’m Larry. This is my brother Darryl. This is my other brother Darryl.”
2: Another one of his characters had a tougher go of things.
His character, Lippy, from Lonesome Dove, wanted to be part of Lorena’s clientele, but in his case, as the saying goes, “Your money is no good here.”
