Lonesome Dove is my favorite mini-series of all time. While I think Robert Duvall’s Gus was perhaps my favorite acting performances of all time, Tommy Lee Jones more than carried his weight as Woodrow Call. And then there is his two-movie run as Sam Gerard in the Fugitive franchise. Tommy Lee can act.

He has acted in more than a few westerns. He just has that look and authenticity. Of course, actually having his own ranch might help. But beyond that, he he’s more than your prototypical cowboy. Here are some things you didn’t know about Tommy Lee Jones.

1: Tommy was raised in Midland, TX and went to high school at Robert E Lee High School. The name of the school was later changed to Legacy High School. He graduated from St. Mark’s School of Texas in Dallas.

As far as I know, St. Mark’s hasn’t changed its name.

2: Jones attended Harvard and had Al Gore as a roommate.

I’m guessing that wasn’t exactly Animal House.

3: He played on the Harvard football team and was named to the first team All-Ivy-League
