My first recollection of Tina Turner goes back to her rendition of “Proud Mary.” Over the years I’ve enjoyed a variety of her music. I’m surprised she didn’t do more movies and TV. I thought she did well in Beyond the Thunderdome.

Of course, beyond her career in entertainment, her relationship with Ike Turner came under scrutiny. Tina was allegedly the victim of domestic abuse at the hands of Ike Turner. Eventually she and Ike were divorced. More on that later. So, on to some things you didn’t know about Tina Turner.

1: Tina started her musical career in Ike Turner’s band, the Kings of Rhythm as Little Ann.

While she was popular, I personally am a bigger fan of Little Debbie.

2: She debuted in 1960 as Tina Turner in the single, “A Fool in Love.”

She made the transition from Little Ann to Tina Turner pretty easily.

3: When she left Ike Turner, she had only 36 cents and a Mobile in her possession. She fled to a Ramada Inn which was across the street.
