Facts About Tina Louise
She and Dawn Wells will always be linked.
Recently I did a piece about Dawn Wells, and it was well received. Well, Tina Louise, like Dawn Wells, is best known for her work on Gilligan’s Island. However, while Dawn Wells seemed to be at peace with that idea, Tina seemed a bit more conflicted about her time on the series.
While Tina, like Dawn, is best noted for her work on Gilligan’s Island, she had other aspects of her career. Against that scanty background, here are some things you didn’t know about Tina Louise.
1: In 1958 the National Art Council named her “The World’s Most Beautiful Redhead.”
She beat out other redheaded beauties such as Red Buttons.
2: Her film debut was in 1958’s “God’s Little Acre.”
I didn’t know anything about the film, but I read where Buddy Hackett, who played a guy named Pluto Swint was also in the movie. And his character was elected sheriff. And his fiancée was named Darlin Jill. I’m thinking this is not a sophisticated urban tale.
3: Before Gilligan’s Island, she worked with Bob Denver in a beach film called, “For Those Who Think Young.”
Tina’s character was named Topaz McQueen and Bob’s character was named Kelp. So, it’s not like Tina was doing Shakespeare before Gilligan’s Island.
