Facts About “The Rifleman”
It was a western that had a different angle.
When I first started writing pieces like this, I remember reading that a writer will eventually find their audience. Well, I’ve written dozens of articles about actors, historical figures and miscellaneous personalities. And I’ve discovered that the biggest names don’t always get the biggest readership.
For example, the individuals I’ve written about that have gotten the biggest readerships are Chuck Connors and Clint Walker. Both western stars. TV westerns and western movies have also done well. So here are some things you didn’t know about the classic TV western, The Rifleman.
1: The show was set in North Fork, New Mexico Territory.
Was North Fork located near a hospital for the criminally insane? It seemed like a homicidal manic wandered through North Fork every week.
2: The marshall of North Fork was Micah Torrance, played by veteran western actor, Paul Fix. In the series, Torrance plays a recovering alcoholic.
