Who’s the leader of the club that’s made for you and me?

One of my earliest remembrances of TV was of watching the Mickey Mouse Club. Generally, what I remember is the anticipation was usually greater than actual payoff when it came to entertainment.

I recognize than there have been revisions of the Mickey Mouse Club over the years, but my focus is going to be primarily on the original Mickey Mouse Club which originally aired 1955–58. I believe my disappointment stemmed primarily from wanting more cartoons and less stories. Now, on to some facts about the Mickey Mouse Club.

1: Upon being cast in the Mickey Mouse Club, Annette Funicello wanted to change her name to something that sounded more American. Walt Disney advised against it, telling her, “Once someone remembers it, they will never be able to forget it.”

And to this day, people remember her for her big ears.

2: The Club had a theme for everyday of the week. The schedule was: Monday: Fun with Music. Tuesday: Guest Star. Wednesday: Anything Can Happen. Thursday: Circus

You probably don't know my name, but have likely seen my work. I've written for numerous syndicated cartoon strips and my gags have appeared in national pubs.
