It’s a not really cheery picture.

It’s been years since I’ve watched Sunset Boulevard. Possibly because I haven’t seen the need to make my life more depressing. Having said that, the story is interesting, if a downer. The actors are also great. I believe if I saw the movie again, I would have a hard time not saying, “Run Forrest, run!” when I saw William Holden on the screen. I did find Erich von Stroheim’s portrayal of Max the butler to be excellent. He actually reminded me of Hirsh the butler/houseboy in WKRP in Cininnati.

The really scary part of the movie is that it seems like we are living in a world where more and more people are losing touch with reality. It’s like they too, are ready for their closeup.

1: The movie was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and won three.

However, none of the stars and co-stars won. William Holden was robbed. I’ve never seen anybody play a dead man in a swimming pool better than him.

2: The relationship between Norma and Joe begins when Norma asks Joe to take a look at a script she wrote about Salome. Norma plans to play the role herself.

You probably don't know my name, but have likely seen my work. I've written for numerous syndicated cartoon strips and my gags have appeared in national pubs.
