I enjoy watching comedians work. And of all the comedians I’ve watched, Steve Martin is my favorite. He in many ways, is a renaissance man. In addition to being great at comedy, he is also an accomplished musician and an art collector of note.

Martin began is comedic career as a writer, but eventually found his way in front of the camera, with great results. So, let’s take a look at some of the things you might not have known about Steve Martin.

1: Steve’s first job was selling guidebooks at Disneyland.

He got to keep 2 cents for every book he sold. Even back then his two cents worth wasn’t much.

2: He was on “The Dating Game” and won the date.

Actually, the date was rigged. He had met the bachelorette before, and they had worked on some questions and answers. That was disappointing. Next, they will be saying pro wrestling is rigged.

3: Despite his success, his father wasn’t supportive.

His father had tried acting before going on to real estate sales. His review of his son’s work on “The Three Amigos’ was, “well, he’s no Charlie Chaplin.” Well, pops wasn’t…
