Robert Shaw has had a number of iconic screen roles. Probably the first role I think of is his work as Doyle Lonnegan in The Sting. However, he also had big roles in Jaws, The Deep and From Russia with Love.

Beyond his film roles I didn’t know much about him. I really didn’t recall seeing him on a lot of TV shows. So, against this lack of knowledge, I did a little more research on Robert Shaw. So, here are some things you might not have known about Robert Shaw.

1: Shaw didn’t like driving cars, or other vehicles for that matter.

Maybe that’s why some of his biggest roles involved boats.

2: Shaw dried of a heart attack while driving a car at the age of 51.

I’m not sure if that’s a coincidence or if he really didn’t like driving a car.

3: Robert became a star after doing a show called The Buccaneers and playing the role of Captain Dan Tempest.

Wow, that’s a cool name. Whenever a person has some weather term in their name they seemed to be destined for great things. For example, there is Dan Tempest and Stormy Daniels. Well, maybe that…

You probably don't know my name, but have likely seen my work. I've written for numerous syndicated cartoon strips and my gags have appeared in national pubs.
