I’ve known of Robert Duvall for quite a while. To me he was a decent actor, but I didn’t think much about him until he played Augustus McCrae in “Lonesome Dove.” It was one of the best performances I have ever seen.

He had played supporting roles as a bad guy in some memorable westerns such as “Joe Kidd” and the John Wayne version of “True Grit.” Of course, he did a notable turn in a couple of Godfather movies. but I’m much more impressed with his work in westerns.

Duvall’s acting resume is indeed impressive. In addition to that, here are some more facts that you might not have known about Robert Duvall.

1: Duvall make his screen debut in "To Kill a Mockingbird,” portraying Boo Radley.

Boo showed more concern for children’s safety than some guys who actually have that as their job.

2: Duvall’s performance as Mac Sledge in “Tender Mercies” won him an Acadamy Award as Best Actor.

And is there a better name for a country western singer than Mac Sledge? And if he had a brother named Cheese to perform with, that would have been fantastic.
