Facts About Richard Pryor
Tremendously funny guy who had a life filled with tragedy.
Richard Pryor was one of the funniest guys I’ve ever seen. And I only watched a fraction of his work. He did some seriously blue material, which isn’t my cup of tea, but when he worked more mainstream, I got an idea of just how gifted he was.
Of course, Richard’s life wasn’t exactly mainstream. His blue material was a reflection of the life, which wasn’t exactly like that of Ozzie and Harriet. I’m not going to go into a lot of sordid details. After all, I try to inject some humor into these pieces and some things are just a little too grim for that. Still, there was a lot of things in Richard Pryor’s life to consider. So, here are some things you might not have known about Richard Pryor.
1: It’s well known that Pryor had a volatile love life. He was married seven times.
There is a biographical movie of his life being considered. The working title is, “Seven Brides for One Brother.” Okay, that’s completely bogus, but I like the line.
2: Early in his comedy career Richard felt like he was just imitating Bill Cosby.
And we all know what a bad idea that was. Oh, I mean off stage, not on.
