Facts About Pernell Roberts

Pernell Roberts, aka Adam Cartwright is responsible for breaking up a happy family. The Cartwrights. Pernell wasn’t happy with his role in Bonanza and eventually hit the road. According to the Bonanza storyline Adam ended up in Australia and matched his dad’s success. I’m not sure if he left a string of dead girlfriends in his wake.
After deserting the Ponderosa, Roberts eventually became a doctor, Trapper John, MD. At one point the Trapper John character was a great surgeon with a tremendous sense of humor. However, it seems that Trapper John lost his hair and sense of humor sometime after the Korean War. In other words, when Pernell Roberts took over the character.
So, beyond that, here are some things you didn’t know about Pernell Roberts.
1: As time went on, Pernell lowered himself to doing projects that were not so high brow.
For example, he appeared in Battle of the Network Stars, 11 and 12. He was the captain of the CBS team. No doubt it was good to have a doctor on the premieres during those events.
