Not a favorite of mine, but it did have longevity.

While the “Mary Tyler Moore Show” gave a TV series about a young woman making it on her own, “One Day at a Time gave us a look at a divorced woman with two kids making it own her own. I have to say, Mary Tyler Moore was funnier, but “One Day at Time did experience some success.

Not to denigrate the cast of One Day at a Time, but the cast of the MTM Show was great, while the cast of One Day at a Time was very good. Plus, I give the MTM Show the edge in writing. Now, having made an unfair comparison to one of the greatest shows in TV history, here are some things you probably didn’t know about one day at a time.

1: The initial pilot had only daughter and was called “Three to Get Ready”

The “three” were Bonnie Franklin, Mackenzie Phillips and Pat Harrington Jr. The pilot didn’t sell. It was revised and had a second kid. The moral? If a single woman is having a tough time, adding a kid will help. Hold on, being told that’s not a good idea.

2: Ann Romano’s love interest in the first part of season one was Richard Masur who played attorney, David Kane

You probably don't know my name, but have likely seen my work. I've written for numerous syndicated cartoon strips and my gags have appeared in national pubs.
