Every year we are bombarded with multiple showings of It’s a Wonderful Life. That may or may not be a good thing based on how you feel about the movie. My general feeling is eh, but other people put it on a higher plane.

Of course, we all come away from the movie with an important lesson. No matter how bad a situation in life is, having an infusion of a huge amount of cash makes things better. Well, maybe that’s not the lesson. Regardless, here are some facts about It’s a Wonderful Life.

1: The movie has become a staple during the holidays because it’s just a wonderful flick.

That and the fact it entered the public domain in 1974. Sometimes cheapness helps with popularity.

2: Kudos to RKO’s head of special effects, Russell Shearman, for developing a new compound for snow. Prior to that, untoasted cornflakes were used. When actors stepped on them dialogue couldn’t be heard.

Maybe they could have added milk to make the flakes soggy.

3: The FBI gave an unfavorable review: “With regard to the picture
