Facts About Geena Davis
She was great in “A League of Their Own.”
When I think of Geena Davis I think of Tom Hanks, in the movie, “A League of Their Own” gets Geena’s attention by yelling, “Hey Tall Girl.” I also remember her from the cinema bomb, “Cutthroat Island.” And I actually thought it was okay.
Geena is perhaps best known for her role in Thelma and Louise. And perhaps especially for the final scene where Thelma and Louise going sailing off a cliff. That’s quite a closing act. Obviously, Geena has had a lot more than that going on in her life. So, here are some things you didn’t know about Geena Davis.
1: Geena’s first movie role was as April Page in the movie, “Tootsie.”
Geena described April “as someone who’s going to be in their underwear a lot of time.” Ah, a very casual person.
2: She starred in and was directed by her then husband Renny Harlin in “Cutthroat Island” and ‘The Long Kiss Goodbye.”
Long Kiss did okay at the box office, but Cutthroat Island was once listed as “largest box office loss” by Guinness World Records. That’s the sort of thing that create a strain on a marriage.
