12 Facts About “Family Matters”
It was a surprisingly popular show.
Family Matters was a TV series than ran for nine seasons. Eight on ABC and the final season on CBS. The show initially focused on an African American family named Winslow, but their neighbor, the nerdy Steve “Did I do that” Urkel became the focus of the show, to the dismay to some other cast members.
The show was basically a benign way to spend 30 minutes, which is not the worst thing that could be said about a TV show. While I watched the show on a limited basis during its run, I don’t remember a lot about it. After some reading, here are some facts about Family Matters.
1: For years the show was part of ABC’s “TGIF” lineup.
The show was okay but if it was the highlight of your week things probably weren’t going well for you.
2: Jo Marie Payton, aka Harriette Winslow left the show near the end of its run after getting into a nearly physical altercation with Jaleel White.
The two were reportedly separated by Darius McCrary, aka Eddie Winslow. Fortunately, Carl Winslow, the father/cop didn’t have to get involved.
